We are looking for a Community Manager to join our small but growing team. Your high-level responsibility will be to grow our community and represent the company in various social media areas (e.g., TikTok, Discord, etc.). Your role will involve responding to our audience, developing guidelines and practices for community engagement, and working with the development team to address concerns and opportunities driven by the community.

This role is available as an in-person (San Francisco, CA), remote or hybrid position.

What We’re Building

Imagine building a game that you would gladly play with your friends or family. We are creating a game that enables communities of players to build and nurture cozy virtual worlds together.

Games are a powerful way to build communities because they easily supply the core building blocks: strong identity and shared purpose. We use intentional game design decisions to foster community with a goal of bringing joy to players through meaningful cooperative experiences.

Come join Uncommon Games and help us achieve this goal!

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for this role are to build and engage the audience for our aww-inspiring game. We want to reach hundreds of thousands of people through social media and convince them to join our community.

Other important responsibilities include…

  • Define guidelines for social media presence, player communication, community moderation, and audience engagement.
  • Represent the studio through social media interactions (particularly TikTok) and developing quick turnaround response content.
  • Create and deliver community updates such as development updates, company news, upcoming events, etc.
  • Manage community channels and engage with both players and content creators.
  • Develop campaigns and content that engage players and maintain a lively, positive community experience.
  • Monitor community sentiment and share feedback with the development team.

Requirements / Qualifications

The main qualification for this role is deep experience growing at least one social media presence to significant scale.

Other important qualifications include…

  • Proven professional experience in a community management and / or social media management role with tangible results.
  • Comfortable being a face for the studio and interacting with the audience through Discord and social media.
  • Enthusiasm for cooperative games, internet culture, and memes.
  • In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms, their features, and best practices for organic and paid marketing.
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills with a keen eye for detail. As a remote first team, we have the additional challenge of trying to keep coordinated across time zones and geographies so this is particularly important to us.
  • Familiarity with applications and tools used for digital asset creation (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, etc.).

Additional Consideration

You’ll be an exceptional fit for this role if you are excited about the role, meet the above qualifications, and also really enjoy games.

Other factors that are valued for this role but are not required include…

  • Basic familiarity with game engines (i.e. Unity), capturing gameplay footage, and using game assets in your workflow.
  • Experience in various stages of the game development lifecycle including prototyping, to pre-production, to production, to live operations.
  • Experience developing games with creative, sandbox, open world, or cross platform aspects.

Application Process

A resume or LinkedIn is required to apply for this position; examples of social media content or community engagement should also be included with your application.
